How the Brother SE1900 Compares to Other Embroidery and Sewing Machines

There are many different combination sewing and embroidery machines out there. Here we will compare the Brother SE1900 to another Brother, the SE600 which is a little lower in price. Then we will look at the Brother SE1900 compared to a Bernette B79, which is a bit more money. We will be comparing the amount of embroidery designs, stitches, fonts, and also a few other features that they all may have in common.

Brother SE1900 vs. Brother SE600

Embroidery Designs: The SE1900 has more design options with 138 pre-installed designs compared to SE600 with only 80.

Built-In Stitches: The Brother SE1900 also has more built-in stitches, with over 100 more stitches compared to the SE600.

Built-In Lettering Font: The Brother SE600 does win over the built-in lettering with 9 fonts compared to just 5 on the SE1900.

Embroidery Field: The SE1900 embroidery field is a bit larger at 5”x7” compared to SE600’s 4”x4” field. This means that SE1900 can create larger designs on products.

Included Feet: The SE1900 has four extra feet that the SE600 does not include. These feet include a stitch guide foot, adjustable zipper/piping foot, non-stick foot, and open toe foot.

Touch Screen Display: Both machines do have a touch screen display, but the SE600 does not have an adjustable brightness like the SE1900 has.

Realistic Preview: One feature that the SE600 does have which the SE1900 does not, is the realistic preview of designs. This would allow the sewer to see exactly how their design will look before starting their project.

Sewing Speed: While both have an adjustable sewing speed, the SE1900 can produce more stitches per minute at 850 compared to SE600’s 710.

Custom Stitch Feature: The SE600 does not include the custom stitch feature like the SE1900 does, which means that you would not be able to save stitches to use at a later time like you would with the SE1900.

Independent Bobbin Winding Motor: This is not included in the SE1900, but is in the SE600.

Buttonhole Styles: Each have 10 different buttonhole styles to choose from.

While the SE1900 and SE600 both have similar features, the SE1900 has a bit more. Even though the SE600 has more built-in letters, the SE1900 has significantly more built-in stitches and embroidery designs. The size of the embroidery design can be a lot larger on the SE1900 as well. While the SE600 is inexpensive, you get what you pay for with the Brother SE1900.

Brother SE1900 vs. Bernette B79

Embroidery Designs: The Bernette B79 has slightly more built-in embroidery designs with 208 compared to the 138 that Brother’s SE1900 has.

Built-In Stitches: While the Brother SE1900 has 240 built-in stitches, the Bernette B79 claims to have double that with 500. These stitches include 133 decorative stitches and 35 quilting stitches.

Built-In Lettering Font: The Brother SE1900 has 5 built-in lettering fonts. On the other hand, Bernette comes with Bernina Toolbox software, which has an additional 100 fonts (and 300 additional embroidery designs).

Embroidery Field: The Bernette comes with three different hoops while the Brother only has one. The largest hoop is 260x 160mm which is about 10”x 6” compared to Brother’s 5”x7”.

Touch Screen Display: Both machines do have a touch screen display, but the Bernette’s is slightly bigger at 5”. Both machines allow sewers to edit directly from the touchscreen.

Sewing Speed: SE1900 can produce 850 per minute. While the Bernette produces this same number in its embroidery speed, it can produce 1,000 per minute while sewing.

Buttonhole Styles: The Bernette has 17 different buttonhole styles while Brother’s only has 10.

While it may seem that the Bernette B79 is the better combination embroidery and sewing machine compared to the Brother SE1900, it also comes with a heftier price tag. Both have many of the same features with the built-in stitches, designs, and fonts.

They also include a touch screen, which makes it easy to choose embroidery designs and edit directly from the machine. While you could create designs on a bigger surface with the Bernette B79, the Brother SE1900 is perfect for the everyday sewer.

Brother SE1900 Final Touches

The Brother SE1900 is a great machine for the experienced sewer who enjoys both sewing and embroidering. The machine has many features that are helpful, including the on-screen step-by step instructions. The built-in embroidery designs, fonts, and stitches will help any sewer create beautiful projects. The Brother SE1900 makes it super easy for those not finding what they want in the built-in designs to upload their own designs that they created or bought with the easy to use USB port that is directly on the machine.

The 11 feet that are included are sure to help any sewer create exactly what they want on their project. While there are other machines out there that can create designs on a larger surface, the Brother SE 1900 is perfect for the experienced sewer creating for themselves and friends.

Good beginner machine

Not a "cheap" machine, but still great for beginners for the price. Definitely get the initial stitch sofware with it.

Upgrade of the SE600

If you owned or liked the SE600, this machine is a step up. If you can deal with the price diffference, go with the se1900
